Parents are for the first-time being invited to submit suggestions to the Government on how to address the childcare crisis.
Children’s Minister James Reilly is seeking submissions from parents and other interest parties as part of a review of childcare policy being led by his department.
The inter-departmental group is examining a number of ways of alleviating the burden of childcare costs on working families and getting mothers back to work.
“To help this group develop the strongest set of options, its work will be informed by research and evidence of best practice, as well as current policy commitments,including those set out in Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures, the National Policy Framework for Children and Young People,” Mr Reilly said.
“But it’s very important that we hear the views of all relevant stakeholders especially from parents.”
The closing date for submissions for interest groups such as academics and policy makers is May 1, while parents and guardians have until May 4.
